1-year postponement on EUDR Regulation
Dear Relation, We would like to inform you that the goods you import will soon fall under the scope of the EUDR Regulation. The new regulation introduces additional requirements, which you will need to start preparing for, in order to ensure compliance. The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) aims to reduce Europe’s contribution to global deforestation and forest degradation, thereby combating climate change. Initially scheduled to take effect on December 30, 2024, the regulation’s implementation has been postponed. The new compliance date is now set for December 30, 2025, following delays in the European Commission’s own preparations. If you are producing, importing, or exporting products or raw materials covered by the EUDR, you must ensure that they meet the stipulated requirements by this date. The EUDR regulation applies to the following seven commodities: cattle, oil palm, soybean, cocoa, coffee, rubber and timber. A detailed list of raw materials, derived products, and associated HS codes can be found in Annex 1 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1115. Compliance RequirementsTo export or place these goods on the European market, they must meet the following criteria: Recommended actionsWe strongly advise to starting preparations immediately to ensure a seamless transition to the new requirements. Delaying action could put your compliance at risk. For further details, please refer to Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 of the European Parliament and the Council, which outlines the rules for placing deforestation-free products on the EU market and exporting them from the EU. We hope to have informed you sufficiently. Should you have any questions, or support is needed, please feel free to reach out. Kind regards,Van der Helm Customs Services
