On 27 June, the European Council approved the EU Customs Reform, laying the groundwork for a completely renewed customs framework:
- A European Customs Authority to manage risks and crisis coordination.
- The EU Customs Data Hub, a single platform for all customs data.
- The new “Trust & Check” status, offering compliant businesses faster clearance and simplified procedures.
- New rules for e-commerce, including fixed handling fees and the removal of VAT exemptions on small parcels.
Implementation will be gradual, stretching until 2038, but preparations for businesses start now.

US Market Alert: End of De Minimis Exemption
As of 29 August 2025, the United States has abolished the $800 de minimis exemption for all imports – both B2B and B2C.
